Janet Baumann, PhD, LCSW, is a graduate of the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health Institute for Psychoanalysis in 1974 and later graduated from the Group Therapy program there. She then earned certification in Couple therapy, Family therapy, and Short-term therapy from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy. A Board Certified Diplomate, Janet has been counseling individuals, groups, couples, and families through her private practice since 1971. Janet is a faculty member at the Fordham School of Social Service, the NYU School of Social Work, and the Blanton Peale Graduate Institute. She has provided trauma training to staff members of agencies including the Red Cross and the American Group Psychotherapy Association. Janet has presented papers at professional conferences on topics including trauma, group therapy, and eating disorders.

Alicia Brackman, LCSW, Board Certified Diplomate, graduated from the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health, where she completed programs in Individual and Group Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis, and Supervision. She is a member of the Postgraduate Psychoanalytic Society and currently serves as President of Psychoanalytic Practitioners of Long Island. She has been in the field for over 30 years and maintains a psychotherapy practice in Manhasset, Long Island where she works with individuals, couples, and families, specializing in marital conflict, bereavement, parenting, anxiety and depression. She has been a consultant at a local pre-school since 1994 and has supervised graduate students, analytic candidates and other practitioners in the field. She is also on the clinical services committee of the Long Island Soldiers Project which counsels returning veterans and their families.

Kirk Brewster, LCSW, is a graduate of the Psychoanalytic Institute of the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. A Board Certified Diplomate, Kirk maintains a private psychotherapy practice in New York City working with individuals, couples, and families, both individually and in a group setting. Kirk has particular experience working in the areas of communication skills, conflict resolution, anger management, and the resolution of intercultural and interracial issues. Kirk has been actively involved in the teaching and training of beginning therapists at the Postgraduate Center's Adult Psychoanalytic program and at Bellevue Hospital's Department of Psychiatry.

Janie Eisenberg, LCSW, is a graduate of the Adult Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy program of the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health and is a Board Certified Diplomate with over 20 years of experience. She maintains a full-time private psychotherapy practice in Lower Manhattan where she works with individuals and couples. She specializes in the treatment of relationship issues, anxiety, depression, bereavement, and trauma. She also brings her considerable experience with aging, adoption, eating disorders and substance abuse into her clinical work. Many of her clients are artists, writers and creative people.

Ellyn Freedman, LCSW, PsyD, is a graduate of New York University School of Social Work and received her Psy D from the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles. She has been on the faculty at the University of South Carolina Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Miami Department of Psychiatry. Over the last thirty years her practice has included individual, couple and family therapy as well as psychoanalysis. Her areas of interest are pre-marital counseling, couple therapy, infidelity, parenting, sexual compulsion, trauma, body image and the emotional effects of plastic surgery. She has taught and supervised psychiatric residents, psychologists and social workers and is published in issues related to HIV and couples and secrets in couple therapy.

Helen Goldberg, LCSW, trained at the NYU Graduate School of Social Work and the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis, an advanced training institute for psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, and is a Senior Member of their faculty. She has supervised candidates in the training program and been an instructor. She is also a member of the Post Graduate Psychoanalytic Society. She has had a private practice of psychotherapy and couples counseling for more than 30 years in which she specializes in working with adults and couples, focusing on the here-and-now feelings which can interfere with good relationships.

Gail Grace, LCSW, is a graduate of the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health where she received certification in Adult Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and also served as a faculty member. Gail maintains a full-time private psychotherapy practice in Manhasset, NY, where she works with individuals, couples and groups in the treatment of relationship issues, anxiety and depression, postpartum depression, grief and women's health issues. She has presented papers at professional conferences on topics including boundaries, bereavement and the effect of loss on couples and was an Associate Editor for the Journal Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. She is also a member of the New York State Society for Clinical Social Work Education Committee and the National Association of Perinatal Social Workers.

Carolynn Hillman, LCSW, is a graduate of the National Institute of the Psychotherapies Institute for psychoanalysis and psychotherapy and the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health Supervisory Training Program in New York. She has served as the Director of Training at the Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis of New Jersey and she is a clinical instructor at NYU Langone Medical Center. Carolynn is certified as a Diplomate in Sex therapy by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists and has over 30 years experience helping individuals and couples feel better about themselves, enrich their relationships, and fulfill their sexual potential.

Kent Jarratt, LCSW, is a graduate of the Institute for Contemporary Psychology/Center for the Study of Anorexia/Bulimia, the Milton H. Erickson New York Society for Psychotherapy and Hypnosis, and the Washington Psychoanalytic Foundation New Directions Program. A Board Certified Diplomate, Kent has maintained a private psychotherapy practice in New York City for over 22 years working with individuals, couples, and families. He supervises other mental health professionals through his work at social service organizations such as the Hetrick-Martin Institute and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Services Center. His public presentations have included such topics as sexual addiction, substance abuse, and the use of hypnosis in psychotherapeutic treatment.

Andrew J. Karpf, PhD, is a graduate of NYU's Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. A Board Certified Diplomate, Andrew has maintained a private psychotherapy practice for over 34 years. He has extensive experience working with individuals struggling with issues including depression, eating disorders, grief and bereavement, and psychosis. In addition, he counsels couples around a variety of issues, including inter-cultural and interracial concerns, blended families, and co-parenting issues. Actively involved in the education of beginning therapists, he has taught at the Brooklyn Institute for Psychotherapy, the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health, the Training Institute for Mental Health Practitioners, and the Beth-Israel Medical Center.

Susan A. Klett, LCSW, is a graduate of the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health with certification in Adult Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, as well as the treatment of Trauma, Personality Disorders and Eating Disorders. A Board Certified Diplomate, Susan maintains a full-time private psychotherapy practice in Manhattan. In addition, she is a faculty member, supervisor, and training analyst at Washington Square Institute for Mental Health. Susan is President of the Postgraduate Psychoanalytic Society Institute and co-chair of its Planning and Education Committee. Susan has published on the subject of sexual abuse, eating disorders, and group therapy.

Gwenn A. Nusbaum, LCSW, is a graduate of both the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health with certification in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, and the William Alanson White Institute with certification in Eating Disorders, Compulsion and Addictions. A Board Certified Group Psychotherapist and Expert in Traumatic Stress, Gwenn has been in private practice for over 22 years, working with adolescents and adults, dealing with issues including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic reactions, and dissociative disorders. She also counsels heterosexual and same-sex couples. In addition, she has specific experience treating women with childhood sexual traumas in both group and individual therapy. Gwenn has published on the subject of sexual abuse, eating disorders, and group therapy.

Wolfgang Pappenheim, M.D., graduated from the Institute of the British Psychoanalytical Society, London, and from the Medical School at Trinity College, University of Dublin. He is a member of the British Psychoanalytic Society, the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and the American Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis. Since moving to New York, he has maintained a varied private practice for adults, adolescents and children, individuals, couples, and family groups. He has served as a private supervisor of therapists and was formerly a Clinical Director for the Jewish Board of Guardians and Consultant Psychiatrist for the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services. He currently consults for the Children's Aid Society (NYC) and teaches for the Object Relations Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (NYC), of which he is also a Trustee.

Susan Reifer, LCSW, is a graduate of the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health with certification in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. She received training in Family therapy at the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services. Susan has maintained a private practice on Manhattan's Upper West Side, working with individuals, couples, and families, for 27 years. She has extensive experience working in the areas of communication skills, pre-marital preparation, and infidelity, as well as the treatment of eating disorders and depression. Actively involved in the education of other mental health professionals, she has taught at Yeshiva University, the New York State Society for Clinical Social Work and the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. Susan has appeared on television, speaking on the topic of exercise and bulimia.

June Tu, LCSW, attended postgraduate seminars at Harvard Medical School and Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, and trained at the William Alanson White Institute in New York. She has been practicing privately for over 19 years, working with individuals, families, and groups. June has particular expertise working in the areas of communication skills, conflict resolution, adultery, anger management, and grief and bereavement. Throughout her career, June has been actively involved in the teaching and training of other mental health professionals. She has taught at Fordham University Graduate School of Social Services and served as a field instructor for graduate students at Federation Employment and Guidance Service. She served two terms as President of the Westchester chapter of the New York State Society for Clinical Social Work.

David Wyner, LCSW, trained at the New York Center for Psychotherapy. A Board Certified Diplomate, David has been in private practice for over than 30 years, specializing in individual psychotherapy as well as couples counseling. He has an extensive background in self, relational, and traditional psychoanalytic techniques, and also draws on his diverse teaching experience at The Juilliard School of Music and The Jewish Theological Seminary. He spent 15 years as Director of the Riverdale Associates for Psychotherapy, where he taught and supervised other therapists. David is affiliated with the Montefiore Medical Center and the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, where he has presented clinical and theoretical papers.
