PARC FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Q1. WHAT ARE THE CREDENTIALS OF YOUR CLINICIANS?
A. Each of our four Founding Therapists and the 12 Affiliate members of the PARC Group are New York State Certified and Licensed therapists with many years of advanced clinical training and extensive experience in the field. Many have published, taught and supervised other therapists at renowned psychotherapy training institutes in New York. If you wish to find a PARC therapist of a particular gender or sexual orientation, please indicate this when you call to make an appointment.
Q2. WHERE ARE YOUR OFFICES LOCATED?
A. Our therapists are located in Manhattan, Westchester, Nassau and Southampton, Long Island.
Q3. HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL IT TAKE TO SOLVE MY/OUR PROBLEMS?
A. PARC is committed to helping you find solutions that work for you. Some couples receive the greatest benefit from short-term, goal-oriented therapy, while for others, a longer period of therapy is indicated. Similarly, some individual's issues are better suited to group treatment, while others are better approached individually. If you are interested in therapy, contact us and a PARC therapist will meet with you to help determine the course of therapy that is best for you.
Q4. HOW DO YOU PROTECT MY CONFIDENTIALITY?
A. PARC is committed to privacy and confidentiality. We are a personal service and work out of network, independent of managed care. This allows us to guarantee the confidentiality of all consultations and records. We do not email or electronically transmit any of our records. As a PARC client, no one will be advised of your participation in counseling unless you specifically request it in writing. We report to no one but you.
Q5. WHAT IF WE ARE BEING SEEN AS A COUPLE AND ONE OF US HAS PERSONAL / INDIVIDUAL ISSUES TO WORK OUT?
A. If you and your therapist determine that individual therapy is indicated for you or your partner, we will make an appropriate referral to an experienced, skilled, and licensed clinician.
Q6. WHAT IF MEDICATION IS INDICATED?
A. If, after careful evaluation, it is determined that medication might be helpful, we will refer you to one of our psychopharmacologists for consultation.
Q7. WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
A. If it is necessary to cancel your appointment, we require 48 hours’ notice. Appointments are in high demand, and your timely cancellation will give another person the opportunity to have access to our services. Please contact the therapist 48 hours in advance of a cancellation, otherwise we must bill you for the session fee. Thank you for your cooperation.
Q8. DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
A. PARC is independent of managed care and does not accept payment directly from insurance providers. However, if you have out of network coverage from your insurance carrier, your mental health benefits may be reimbursable and we will provide you with the appropriate statement for submission. Check with your carrier for details.
